Boston Celtics trade rumors suggest a Kevin Garnett or Paul Pierce trade could still happen. This Celtics trade news is being caused by none other than team president of basketball operations Danny Ainge. According to a report from Thursday evening (Feb. 7), Ainge spoke out again about the possibility of trading two of his biggest stars and he again left the door open for a deal to get done.
When Ainge was asked about the possibility of trading either player, he first talked about the most likely scenario being that they will remain in Boston. Then he went on to say, "I'll just repeat what I always tell you guys -- the things that are out there are the things that aren't true and the things that are happening are not being reported."
In his response, he basically stated that there are things either being discussed or worked on, suggesting that the Celtics might actually try to work out a deal before the Feb. 21 NBA trade deadline. This definitely isn't the first time he has helped create rumors himself, but maybe Ainge is playing the game to keep teams interested and possibly willing to part with better assets if he does decide to blow up the team.
While it certainly doesn't look like any of the current Boston Celtics trade rumors are going to lead to anything over the weekend, it certainly seems more likely that the team is considering a deal or two. Fantasy basketball owners will want to pay close attention, because if Kevin Garnett gets sent to the LA Clippers, he could see a nice boost in his numbers. The same might not be there for Paul Pierce, as he might see a downturn in his offense.
