Boston Celtics trade rumors about Courtney Lee wanting a trade have been refuted by Lee himself. According to a report from the Boston Herald on Wednesday night (Jan. 30), Lee had been reported as unhappy with the Celtics and displeased with Rajon Rondo. This came as news to Lee, who took to his Twitter account to respond to the accusations.
Lee posted on Twitter, "Somebody Please tell me who Zach Lowe is??? If your going to report anything about me or go on shows talking about me INTERVIEW ME FIRST!!"
It's certainly possible that Lee could have been frustrated earlier in the season, but he is now in the starting rotation after the ACL injury to Rondo. This guarantees him a lot of minutes, even with the deep rotation that coach Doc Rivers has been working with in Boston. Lee will likely remain in the starting lineup with Avery Bradley for the remainder of this season.
Due to the value that the Celtics have found with their current roster, it seems more likely that a Courtney Lee trade won't take place. It is certainly possible that Danny Ainge could still blow up the team if they get caught by the Philadelphia 76ers or Toronto Raptors in the Eastern Conference standings, but right now it looks like the backcourt of Lee and Bradley is working pretty well.
There are definitely going to be more Boston Celtics trade rumors before the NBA trade deadline finally hits in February, but it's certainly possible that the team won't make a move until the offseason. Fantasy basketball owners will never see more value from Lee than right now, so ride him if you have him on the roster.
