The social media research site Trendrr.TV, which helps media organizations, brands and TV studios understand how to work with social media data, puts out a daily report summarizing the biggest draws on TV in terms of social media activity like Twitter tweets and Facebook postings.
For Jan. 23, the second most popular show, according to social media numbers, was none other than the Boston Bruins game versus the New York Rangers. With a total activity level of 308,776, the game was second only to American Idol at 361,710.
Keep in mind that the game was on NBC Sports Network, a cable channel with a much smaller subscriber base than American Idol on Fox.
Coming in a distant third for social media activity on Jan. 23 was the NBA TV-aired game featuring the Oklahoma City Thunder and Golden State Warriors at an activity level of 142,574.
