2K and Gearbox have announced that "Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel," the brand-new stand-alone addition to the famed "Borderlands" series, is now available for pre-purchase on Steam, according to a press release and on their official website today.
According to the press release, gamers who previously purchased “Borderlands 2” on Steam will qualify for 10 percent off “Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel.” “Borderlands 2” will also be free to play this coming weekend and can be purchased for 80 percent off its normal price. 2K and Gearbox did confirm that anyone who bought the game this weekend would also be able to claim the 10 percent off for “Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel” as well.
Coming off the success of "Borderlands 2," the highest-selling game in 2K games history, "Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel" is set for an Oct. 15 release on Windows PC, PlayStation 3 and XBox 360, 2K also confirmed."
Fans are clamoring for an all-new, triple-A Borderlands experience," Christoph Hartmann, President of 2K said in a press release. "We will deliver just that with Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel.”
The plot of “Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel” will revolve on the events that lead to the rise of Handsome Jack as the crazed super villain he is today. Fighting alongside the iconic character, gamers will draw guns on Pandora's moon in what 2K called, "gravity-bending gunfights in zero-atmosphere environments."
The game will also include new weapons and four new playable characters including fan favorite, Claptrap.
"There’s nothing quite like moon jumping in a low-gravity gunfight, completely freezing a moon bandit with one of the new Cryo weapons, and then shattering him into little pieces that float off into space," Tony Lawrence, general manager of 2K Australia said in a press release release. "It’s pretty epic.”
