The villain of the last title in the series, or the hero as he saw himself, will return as a major character in Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel. In fact, the story of the upcoming release will revolve around how Handsome Jack comes into power of the Hyperion Corporation and, in turn, Pandora itself. However, as VG247 reported on Sept. 1, fans will be able to do more than simply help Jack in The Pre-Sequel. He will be added as a playable character in a DLC after the game’s release.
Much like the franchise’s second entry, Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel has been confirmed to add new character classes to the game thanks to future DLC add-ons. Unlike Borderlands 2 though, the new playable characters will actually be a part of the upcoming title’s season pass content.
The first character that will be added to the playable roster for Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel will be Handsome Jack. According to a report by Polygon, gamers won’t be taking control of Jack himself. They will rather be playing one of Jack’s body double clones.
Like Jack, the four base playable characters from Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel are also returning characters from the franchise’s past. Athena was first introduced in a DLC to the first Borderlands game while both Wilhelm and Nisha were both enemy bosses in Borderlands 2. The fourth base character, Claptrap, is familiar all fans of the series since he serves as an unofficial mascot of the franchise.
Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel releases on Oct. 14 for the Playstation 3, Xbox 360, and PC. The recently announced season pass will include four separate DLC add-ons.
