Borderlands 2 trailer shows off all four playable characters

Bandits, skags, guns, and loot; nothing made a vault hunter more elated.  Unfortunately, the story in Borderlands is over, and now Lilith, Roland, Mordecai, and Brink are wanted.  A new handsome enemy appropriately called “Handsome Jack” and his Hyperion empire are corrupting Pandora.  It’s up to four new player characters to step up and save the planet.

Luckily, four new characters means four new ways to defeat enemies.  In the official Borderlands 2 trailer, gamers meet the new characters in name only.  Although there is a little to gather from their brief appearances, knowing how each character will play is just an educated guess.  There’s Salvador the dual wielding “gunzerker,” Maya the controlling/healing siren, Axton the (possibly) turret using solider-type, and Zer0 the blade-brandishing stealth unit.

The trailer reminds everyone that Borderlands 2 will utilize four-player co-op just like the original game.  Drop in/out functionality will return in addition to split screen action.  The video concludes with a solid release date for the over-the-top Borderlands 2.  Players can pick up their pursuit on Pandora on September 18, 2012 (September 21, 2012 internationally).

A preorder incentive is also being advertised.  Players that preorder will gain access to the Borderlands 2 Premiere Club.  This club entitles the player to a Gearbox gun pack that includes a number of guns, the Vault Hunter’s Relic which boosts the player’s gear finding abilities, and a Golden Key that unlocks a special weapon.  For more information on Borderlands 2, be sure to visit the official site.
