Borderlands 2, the sequel to the popular FPS/RPG, landed almost a month ago in North America. Like its predecessor, it was met with fan praise and critical acclaim for being a great combination of both genres, as well as having a great sense of humor and art style. Fans have been clamoring for more and fortunately for them, developer Gearbox has delivered.

As reported on IGN, Gearbox confirmed leak photos earlier today, stating that the game's first DLC campaign titled Captain Scarlett and her Pirate's Booty will be available next week. Specifically, it will be available October 16.

According to Gearbox, the story will be the first of four and will total about $10. Gearbox has described that the DLC will have players

"battling new enemies like sand worms, hovering across the terrain in the new sand skiff vehicle and collecting a new currency called seraph crystals."

Details are still somewhat scarce, but what has been revealed so far (in addition to the new missions and currency) is three new Playstation Trophies (and presumably, accompanying Live Achievements), new loot and a new rarity color for weapons.

No doubt Gearbox will provide more information as we approach the 16th, but in the mean time, this is still very exciting news for fans looking to keep up the shooting and looting in Borderlands 2.
