Getting Started with AWS – Technical

Audience Level: Foundational

This foundational level course for technical individuals teach you key concepts around security, credential management, provisioning, managing, and auto-scaling. This course covers standard and advanced capabilities in the AWS Management Console to help you gain a deeper understanding of working key AWS services such as Amazon EC2, Amazon EBS, Amazon S3, Elastic Load Balancing, Auto Scaling, Amazon CloudWatch, and Amazon RDS.

Architecting Highly Available Applications on AWS

Audience Level: Intermediate

This intermediate level course teaches you how to architect scalable, highly-available, and secure applications on AWS. In this session, we cover the differences between traditional and cloud-based availability, how to apply AWS availability options to workloads, architectural design patterns for automating fault tolerance, and examples of highly available architectures.

Re-engineering Your Application for AWS

Audience Level: Advanced

This scenario-based, hands-on course teaches you how an off-the-shelf application can be enhanced for greater security, scalability, availability and cost optimization with AWS services. In this session we discuss architectural principles and best practices for re-engineering your application in an Amazon Virtual Private Cloud (VPC). Topics covered include: CloudFormation templates, multiple Availability Zones, tiered Security Groups, Elastic Load Balancing, and Auto Scaling, and Relational Database Service (RDS). We recommend attendees have experience developing and/or deploying applications in an on-premises or cloud environment.

Store, Manage and Analyze Big Data in the Cloud

Audience Level: Intermediate

This bootcamp provides you with hands-on experience architecting and implementing a Big Data scenario that merges structured and unstructured data into a data warehouse for analysis by business users. We teach you how to use Amazon S3 to gather and store large quantities of data; Amazon Elastic Map Reduce to process raw data using the massive scale of Amazon EC2; and Amazon Redshift to analyze data and make it accessible to business users. This course also introduces you to AWS Data Pipeline and Amazon Kinesis. We recommend attendees have intermediate knowledge of AWS, as well as familiarity with the basics of Amazon EC2 and Amazon S3.

Taking AWS Operations to the Next Level

Audience Level: Advanced

This course for experienced AWS users teaches you change and configuration management of your infrastructure on AWS. In this session, we cover how to use AWS CloudFormation, Chef and the AWS SDKs to automate the provisioning and configuration of your AWS infrastructure resources and application. We also discuss how to use Amazon SimpleWorkflow to create, build, and deploy an end-to-end automation system to enable hands off failure recovery of key systems. Note: This course is focused on the Linux operating system and other open-source technologies.
