Two men got more than they bargained for when they tried to rob the home of WWE wrestler Daniel Bryan, police reported Monday, July 28.
The scene unfolded last week, when Bryan, whose name is Bryan Danielson, and his wrestler wife, pulled into their carport and saw the door to their Aradia, Arizona, home open and two men exit.
Brianna Danielson (WWE's Brie Bella) ran in to check on the couple's dog, while high-flying hubby quickly gave chase.
Danielson, 33, caught up to 22-year-old Cesar Sosa, who attempted to square off with the wrestler. No luck. Danielson's prowess was too much for the pudgy suspect.
"I saw the guys running out the back," the 5-foot-10, 210-pound Danielson told The Associated Press. "I caught one of them. I kept him until police got there. They're actually lucky that I got them instead of Brie, because she probably would have been a little more violent."
Danielson is known for his signature "Yes! Lock" in the ring. He said the move wasn't necessary to take care of Sosa, who "wasn't in very good shape." The Aberdeen, Washington native did use a naked choke hold on the suspect until officers arrived, Phoenix Police Sgt. Tommy Thompson said via e-mail. The second suspect fled and has not been caught as of his report.
The dog, Josie, was unharmed. Brianna found the pooch hiding in the bathroom.
As Daniel Bryan, Danielson is a three-time WWE champion, four-time world champion, and was part of the WWE tag team, Team Hell No. He's been wrestling professionally since 1999, shortly after finishing high school.
Brianna Danielson is one half of WWE's Bella Twins. The other is her twin sister, Nikki (Stephanie Nicole Garcia-Colace).
