As Michigan gears up for the blizzard of 2011 many of the Lansing and Jackson area children are looking forward to a snow day. Yes parents there is a good chance of NO SCHOOL! With the kids most likely going to be home all day you while they may go outside to enjoy the foot or more of fresh snow they will more than likely be stuck inside for a good share of the day also. You just might want to run out to the nearest library or bookstore and stock up on some great books for children.
In an hour at the Carnegie branch of the Jackson District Library I was able to make a nice list of books for children about snow or at least involving snow. There are many others! Just ask the librarian at your library “Do you have any children’s books about snow?” and watch their reaction. Yes, they may think you are a bit crazy but it can be fun seeing how involved the adults get in searching for ‘snow books for children’.
