Booker T was announced as the newest member of the WWE Hall of Fame on "WWE Monday Night Raw" on March 18. He joins one of the biggest, and best, Hall of Fame classes in WWE history.
Also inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame this year is Bruno Sammartino, the longest reigning world champion in history; Bob Backlund, who holds one of the Top 5 longest WWE title reigns in history; Mick Foley, the man who made hardcore wrestling famous; Trish Stratus, arguably one of the greatest female wrestlers in the modern day WWE; and Donald Trump as a celebrity induction.
Booker T began his career down in Texas as part of the Global Wrestling Federation, a company that tried to fill the void after the Von Erich's World Class Wrestling went out of business. However, it was when he made his debut in WCW that Booker T became a star.
Booker T and his brother Stevie Ray held the WCW World Tag Team Championships 10 times as Harlem Heat, one of the most dominant tag teams in WCW history. He went on to hold the TV title and United States Championship, before winning the WCW World Championship, a title he held five times.
When the WWE purchased WCW, Booker T continued to thrive, winning the Intercontinental title, the King of the Ring tournament, multiple tag team titles, and finally capturing the World Heavyweight Championship. Booker T remains in the WWE as the commissioner on Smackdown.
The WWE Hall of Fame ceremony takes place the night before Wrestlemania.
