BookCon at Jacob Javits adds authors and free giveaways to entice public

BookCon, the open to public book publishing event at Jacob Javits on May 31, 2014 has now published a list of guest authors and panelists that are expected.

If you are a big reader or your children are readers, this event should be on your to do list. As mentioned in my prior article on April 28, the cost is $5 for 6-12 year olds and $30 for older attendees.

The BEA has stated that Lidia Bastianich, Mario Batali, Alan Cumming, Lena Dunham, Tina Fey, Richard Ford, Mem Fox, John Green, Carl Hiaasen, Anjelica Huston, Jeff Kinney, Stan Lee, David Mitchell, Amanda Palmer, Neil Patrick Harris, Veronica Roth, Rachel Renee Russell, Lisa Scottoline, Jason Segel, Martin Short, Tavis Smiley, and Colm Toibin will be at BookCon, talking about books.

The Calendar of Events is available at http://www.thebookcon.com/Events/Interactive-Events/. Highlights include:

10:00 to 4:00 Nickelodeon Kids Programming featuring sneak peeks of new episodes of popular kids series Dora the Explorer; Peter Rabbit, Bubble Guppies and PAW Patrol. There will be photo opportunities with characters, arts and craft projects and a reading by Fatima Ptacek, the voice of Dora.

9:00 to 3:00 Get personalized book recommendations from the MacMillan Ingenious Bar at Booth #3221 and make your own book cover at their Photo Booth

10:30 am to 11:30 am Mario Batali will talk about cooking and his new book at the Downtown Authors Stage

10:30 am to 11:30 am Stephan Pastis, author of the Timmy Failure books will be autographing books at Booth # 2857.

10:00 to 11:00 John Grisham talks to Carl Hiassin in Room 1E07.

11:45 -12:30 General Literature Trivia Contest

2:00 - 2:45 Hunger Games Trivia

2:00-3:00 pm panel of kids authors Jeff Kinney, James Patterson, Rick Riordan, Rachel Renee Russell and Lemony Snicket.
