Book TV to start book club

Book TV, an offshoot of C-Span, announced via email on Feb. 21 that it is planning to start an online book club.

"Each month is a different book and author," the company said, "and you're invited to join."

Details are sketchy with more information promised later, but interested readers may express their interest by sending a tweet to Book TV’s Twitter account, @BookTV.

Book TV's programming features 48 hours of nonfiction books from Saturday at 8 a.m. ET to Monday at 8 a.m.

Programming this week includes an interview with Chris DeRose, author of "Congressman Lincoln: The Making of America's Greatest President." It is scheduled for programming on Saturday at 7 p.m. ET and Monday at 2 a.m. ET.

Karen Elliott House will discuss her book, "On Saudi Arabia: Its People, Past, Religion, Fault Lines -- and Future" in a program scheduled for Saturday at 9 p.m. ET and Sunday at 11 a.m. ET.

The network’s full schedule, with descriptions of authors and their books, is available online.
