Take a minute to sit back and think how much a movie trailer can really suck you in, and even make you count down the days until the movie comes out. Trailers have been used to promote movie releases for decades; the first movie trailer was made in 1913. Trailers are becoming increasingly popular in the literary world. When I first saw a couple of book trailers come out I was very intrigued and excited about the idea.
The quality of trailers, from my research, varies a great deal. There are some book trailers that are made by fans, and others that are up to par with actual movie trailers- which are made by companies specializing in the creation of book trailers.
I came across a very interesting and captivating book trailer for author Julia Crane's book Freak of Nature. The trailer was made by a company called Book Candy Studios. Book Candy Studios specializes in a variety of things such as: book promotion packages, publicity campaigns, and even blog tours clearly designed to enhance the reach of readers.
I have touched on book trailers in one of my past articles. Ever since then, I have been watching more trailers- trying to see the impact they have on book sales. Putting myself into an author's perspective, I think that it's vital to feel like the trailer matches the true content of the book.
I had a chance to speak with Julia Crane about the experience she had with Book Candy Studios and she was thrilled with the trailer she had made for her book. Crane said that they were very open to her ideas, and made changes so she felt secure that the trailer truly represented the book.
I got sucked into the Freak of Nature trailer made by Book Candy Studios more than any I have come across. I have read and reviewed the book for two examiner articles, so I got to see how much this trailer truly represents the book content. I look forward to more trailers from Book Candy Studios as well as other companies; I think they are going to be progressively popular and vital for books in the near future.
