What better place to be during the dead of winter than warm, beautiful Sarasota? In Mary Jane Clark's third installment of her "Wedding Cake Mystery" series, "Footprints in the Sand", Piper Donovan is soaking up the sun on the beaches of Florida in between preparations for her cousin's wedding. The struggling actress/cake decorator has her hands full, designing a fabulous wedding cake while also serving as maid of honor.
As if Piper isn't busy enough already, she is soon called upon to utilize her mystery solving skills. When one of the bridesmaids suddenly disappears, a series of troubling events begin to unfold; including a neighbor's car being run off the road and an Amish teenager, who is a potential witness, being threatened to keep silent.
Eventually, the body is discovered on, of all places, the wedding beach. Piper is under pressure to find the murderer in time to save her beloved cousin's nuptials. There are no shortage of suspects including: her cousin's future stepfather, the bridegroom, a shady cake decorator, a doctor and his wife who collect strange figurines, and the sleazy, ex-drug dealer best man.
