Book repair & family research offered at Gainesville Library

Book repair and genealogical research programs are offered by the staff at the Gainesville Library. The main branch of the library is located at 127 Main St, NW, Gainesville, GA 30501. Contact Ronda Sanders at 770-532-3311 ext. 116.

April 9, 2013 – The 40th annual Bible and Old Book Repair Day will be hosted by the Hall County Library System from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. Free estimates on the cost of restoring the family Bible or old books will be given by Ken Jewell, National Library Bindery. Books left with Mr. Jewel for repair will be taken to the National Library Bindery in Roswell, Georgia. The books will be returned to the main library branch for pick up in about two months.

April 12, 2013 – “Sitting Up With the Dead” will provide the family historian or genealogy researcher the opportunity to be locked after hours in the library. According to Rhonda Sanders, “This event is not for beginners or the faint of heart!” Volunteers and staff will be available to assist researchers. Arrive as early as noon, but at 5:00 p.m. the library will be closed to the public. The genealogy collection will be available until midnight.This research opportunity will be held at the main branch of the library in Gainesville, Georgia.
