Author Vincent Meis hosts a book launch party at Galería de la Raza from 6 pm to 9 pm Friday, September 16, for his novel, Eddie’s Desert Rose.
Meis will be taking off on a 10-city book tour, stopping in cities including Los Angeles, Miami and New York, as well as his hometown of Decatur, IL.
Meis recently retired after teaching English as a Second Language at City College of San Francisco for 20 years. He also taught English in Spain, Mexico and Saudi Arabia, where this novel is set. It’s a story about expatriates who get caught in the political struggles of the Middle East, and gives an inside view of Saudi Arabia in the 1980s. Both Modern Times Bookstore and Books, Inc. have copies of Eddie’s Desert Rose.
Meis has written two other novels, Tio Jorge and Down in Cuba, which will be available soon.
