Cindy Bailey was told at age 40 that she had only a 2% chance of naturally conceiving a baby. After hearing this news, Cindy, a former athlete with a passion for health and nutrition, decided to go on her own fertility diet. In addition to a change in diet, CIndy also used other natural healing regimens such as yoga and meditation. She conceived her son four months later.

Cindy and her husband, Pierre Giauque, have written the book The Fertile Kitchen: Simple Recipes for Optimizing Your Fertility, to help make following a fertility diet easier. The books contains a variety of simple, tasty recipes as well as dietary guidelines.

The Fertile Kitchen also contains the following information:

  • The importance of diet in conception and pregnancy
  • What foods you can and cannot eat to enhance fertility
  • How to identify and shop for healthy ingredients and food items
  • How to prepare and cook the nutritious and fertility enhancing recipes
  • Shortcut options to save effort or time

This book is beneficial for both men and women facing infertility. Even if you plan on using a form of assisted reproduction, good nutrition can help optimize your chance for success.

Cindy is also a member of RESOLVE, the national infertility association, and maintains her blog, The Fertile Kitchen, where you can learn more about good nutrition and fertility.

In the Raleigh, North Carolina area, the following stores provide organic products as well as some of the specialty food items you may need in preparing the fertility recipes:
