More than 60 authors, small publishers and storytellers will participate in the Ventura County Book & Author Fair, Saturday, November 5th in Camarillo. Author book signings and readings are scheduled throughout the day at booths at the Book Expo segment of the fair. The event will be held in the auditorium at the Pleasant Valley Community Park, 1605 Burnley Street, corner of Carmen Drive.
Members of the National Storytelling Network will give four performances. Wsir Johnson and Elaine Muray will tell stories from 11 to 11:30 am on the main stage in the auditorium. Elaine Muray integrates movement and narration to deliver tales from around the world as well as personal stories. Wsir Johnson will perform a story that soon to be released as a children's book. At 2 pm, Cynthia Matthews and Elaine Muray will do another half hour performance. Cynthia Matthews will draw from her published books and other materials.
Many of the authors in the Book Expo will do fifteen-minute readings from their latest book. Among those scheduled are: humorist Sheli Ellsworth, children's author Armando Garza, musician and actor Mickey Jones, comedian Bruce Baum, editor Shelly Lowenkopf, travel writer Sequoia Hamilton, holocaust survivor Manny Steinberg, plus Debra Tash, Kate Cocquyt, Christopher Meeks, E. Van Lowe, and more. The final times will be available on the event's website Monday, October 31.
Admission to the Book Expo is free. If attendees register online by November 2nd, they will receive a coupon worth 20% off their first book purchase.
Simultaneous to the Book Expo is a series of educational seminars led top publishing figures including: New York Times best selling authors, romance novelist Margaret Brownley and young adult novelist Catherine Ryan Hyde, two top west coast literary agents, Angela Rinaldi and Toni Lopoplo, legendary editor Shelly Lowenkopf, memoir instructor Tristine Rainer. plus panel discussions on book promotion, self-publishing, and the craft of comedy writing. Seating is limited for these seminars. Each costs $25.
The Fair is produced by the Pacific Institute for Professional Writing, a California non-profit and co-sponsored by six other literary groups including: Ventura County Writers Club, Independent Writers of Southern California, Small Publishers, Artists and Writers Network, Book Publicists of Southern California, Ojai Writers Conference and the Camarillo Library.
