On Saturday February 23rd I attended the Make Up Bag Remix Tour hosted by MAKE UP FOR EVER. Being a full time mom to a 10 year old active boy and a 16 month old very curious little girl, I rarely take the time out for myself or the time to continue my education as a makeup artist. My experience at this event left me feeling relaxed and renewed my passion for doing my own makeup.
I walked up to the trailer, makeup bag in hand, and was greeted by Nick, who is the operator of the tour and from Las Vegas. Viva Las Vegas! He was quick to greet me with a smile and escorted me inside to wait for my artist. I was waiting for Lijha, who is one of the educators. As I looked around the room, there were about 8 women getting their makeup done and 3 waiting including myself. The energy was fantastic and positive and every woman sitting in a chair had a smile on her face and you could tell she was truly learning something and was happy with the finished application. Not one woman walked out looking anything less than gorgeous.
When I sat in Lijha's chair I wasn't sure exactly what to expect. I like colors on my eyes and am not afraid to apply some purples, blues, etc. Since having my little girl, I have just been happy to slap on a simple grey/black smoky eye or some lavenders and call it a day. My excitement for applying my own makeup had gone out the window with the lack of time. I told Lijha that I would like her to show my some bold colors on the lid and go all out but not scary. She opens this palette with bright bold blue, purple, yellow, all the colors of the rainbow it seemed. I got kinda nervous, but was still excited at what she was going to show me. The finished product was AMAZING. During the application she told me different tips and tricks to create the look at home and she wrote down all the products that she used so I could purchase them if I needed at a later time. One of the unique aspects of this event is that there was no high pressure selling. She didn't even ask me if I wanted to buy anything.
