'Boo at the Zoo' in full swing at the Columbus Zoo

Children know the changing of the leaves and pumpkin décor at every turn means Halloween is right around the corner. Many local children, however, see the colorful landscape and festive decorations as a sign that it’s time for Boo at the Zoo, the delightfully haunting Halloween celebration at the Columbus Zoo.

During the last part of October, the zoo offers a wide variety of “spooktacular” activities for visitors of all ages. This year’s activities include treat stations sponsored by local businesses and organizations, an “Operation Green” show featuring Iron Man, Spiderman, Green Goblin and Captain America, special Halloween rides and attractions, and the notorious Pumpkin Smash Animal Enrichment. In addition, visitors can enjoy experiences at the reptile keeper lab and the touch pool, diver demonstrations, and Animals on Safari shows.

Children are welcome to dress in costume. However, only adults accompanied by a child or children under 13 years of age are permitted to wear costumes on zoo grounds. Regular admission rates apply, although Columbus Zoo and Aquarium members are free.
