U2 visits the Q101 studios.

Being the third largest radio market in the United States, its not rare for radio stations in Chicago to feature interviews with big name celebrities. Unfortunately, quite often those interviews are done over the phone. Last week however was different as U2 made a series of pre-concert stops visiting the studios of both WXRT and Q101 while local phenom turned superstar Dwayne Wade returned home for a live appearance with all-sports ESPN 1000.

Regular WXRT afternoon host Frankie Lee must be cursing his choice of vacation weeks as night host Tom Marker was filling in when U2 visited. The rare interview not only brought veteran host Lin Brehmer back to the studio but also evoked a rare on-air appearance from program director Norm Winer. The entire interview is available on the WXRT Web site.  Q101 has yet to make audio of the interview with afternoon host Tim Virgin available but did share a number of photos of the visit.

Meanwhile, the pride of Oak Lawn's Harold L. Richards high school, Dwyane Wade returned to Chicago to take part in one of ESPN 1000's ongoing series of live broadcasts titled "Lunch with a Legend." Broadcast live from Mortons Steakhouse, Wade spent an hour on the air talking with hosts Tom Waddle and Marc "Silvy" Silverman. The show included a special guest appearance by Wade's nemesis from the popular T-Mobile ads, Charles Barkley. Enjoy the pictures of D-Wade's return and listen to the interview on ESPN's Web site. Next month the Lunch with a Legend series switches to hockey featuring Blackhawks' legends Stan Makita and Bobby Hull on October 9.
