Bonnie Franklin has died. The 69-year-old, 5-foot-3 redhead was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and was undergoing treatment, reports The Hollywood Reporter on Mar. 1. Although Franklin was a cabaret performer, a stage actor and had roles in "Gidget," "Please Don’t Eat the Daisies," and more, Franklin is best known for role as Ann Romano in the TV series "One Day at a Time" that ran from 1975 to 1984. "As soon as we went on the air we started receiving a lot of letters," Franklin once said. "The letters were saying, 'This is my life. This is what I’m going through. This is what my mother is like.' And so we pretty quickly got the idea that we were touching something."
Franklin touched the lives of many, particularly single moms, who watched her on "One Day at a Time." She appeared in the show as a single mother to Valerie Bertinelli and Mackenzie Phillips who played her daughters.
