Bonnie Franklin dead: 'One Day at a Time' star dies at the age of 69

"One Day at a Time" star Bonnie Franklin has died. The redhead actress is best known for her character as the divorced mom on the sitcom. She passed away at the age of 69, according to a TMZ report on March 1.

Franklin died due to complications with cancer. According to her family, she was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer back in September 2012. Franklin received therapy for it, but had complications with the disease.

Bonnie is best known for playing Valerie Bertinelli and Mackenzie Phillips' single mother on "One Day at a Time." The show lasted from 1975 to 1984, and was a top 20 hit on CBS. Bonnie also had a long and fulfilling career in acting.

Franklin had credits in both television and stage work. Credits include appearances on "The Young and the Restless" and Hot in Cleveland," which also stars Bertinelli.

Bonnie Franklin married Ronald Sossi from 1967 to 1970. She later married film producer Marvin Minoff until his death in November 2009. Bonnie doesn't leave any children behind.
