South Bay regulars and dark folk-rockers, Bonnie and the Bang Bang, have released the first visuals off their 2013 release, “The Dark Dream.” The music video for “Zombies! Part 1” continues the act’s D.I.Y. ethos, while signifying the works of BBB to come.
“Zombies! Part 1” documents an evening at SFs, Cafe Du Nord, in July of this summer. The lo-fi video quickly moves about the stage and through the crowd, as BBB begins and ends their evening performance. The shots are filtered through a wavy, distorted, color CRT-style television effect. The video was filmed by recording engineer and Oakland hip-hop artist, Chaz Mabry (a.k.a. chazNasty), and is edited by BBB’s own Patrick James Stiles and Joe Warren.
BBB has big plans for the remainder of 2013, as “Zombies! Part 1” will be the first video in a campaign to support “The Dark Dream.” According to Stiles, 4 or 5 lyric more videos and 2 official music videos have been planned for the campaign.
“The Dark Dream” marks BBB’s debut album and was funded by a Pledgemusic.com campaign. The band met their pledge goal of $3,500 in an astounding 39 days. The record can be streamed and purchased through Bonnie and the Bang Bang’s website.
