Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival is often referred to the nations greatest entertainment festival. The annual event takes place on a 700 acre farm in Manchester Tennessee, every June. Bonnaroo first began in 2002 by Superfly Presents and AC Entertainment. The festival hosts over 125 music and comedic talents. The festival spans over a 4 day period where music fans camp out and enjoy live music, entertainment and more. Some of the best moments in music history happen at Bonnaroo, and people from all over the world get to experience together when a small town in Tennessee swells to one of the largest cities in the state during a hot summer weekend in June.
The best of the best talent around the world gather every year for Bonnaroo, and 2014 won’t be any different. The line-up is in, and it is spectacular. The headliners for the 4 day event include; Elton John, Kanye West, and Nashville’s own Jack White. Lionel Ritchie and Vampire Weekend are also on the top of the list of performers. This year, the event will take place from June 12-15. If the headliners are any indication, you can bet on a unique cross-section of performers all weekend long. Other big names on the list are; Phoenix, Avett Brothers, Skrillex, Arctic Monkey’s and Frank Ocean. The list is quite impressive and the fan base will no doubt be quite diverse. Where else will you see Skrillex, Elton John, Kanye, and Jack White fans mix it up but at Bonnaroo? About 80,000 people will gather for the summer festival. It’s the one time of year when a farm south of Nashville will be home to people from all walks of life and every corner of the world gathered to celebrate a common interest.
Not only is Bonnaroo about entertaining the masses with music and laughs you can also dance in the Silent Disco where you groove to the beat that is streaming through your headphones. if dancing isn’t your thing, how about running? Bonnaroo is the only festival with a 5k Run. Bonnaroo also has a 24 hour cinema, their own magazine, and they offer daily workshops in art, theatre, percussion, belly dancing and much more. Let’s not forget, Bonnaroo also has their own Ben and Jerry’s ice cream flavor. The festival becomes a working city with a post office, general store, taxi service, school, and highway exits.
In 2009, the Bonnaroo Works Fund was created in support of the philanthropic endeavors the festival invested into the community. Bonnaroo has distributed over $3,000,000 in contributions to various causes in the local community and across the country. Bonnaroo is a true believer in sustainability and the mission is for the farm to be left better than the year before. Bonnaroo won both the Environmental Stewardship Award and an award in the Pursuit of Excellence twice by the state of Tennessee.
