Less than 2 months out from the start of Bonnaroo and with a mostly full lineup announced, there's no official announcement from The Farm today, April 21, but that doesn't mean there isn't any news to talk about. Two Bonnaroo 2014 performers, Jack White and Mastodon, have new music in advance of their forthcoming albums. Also, Bean's Creek, the winery behind the Bonnaroo wines, has announced a contest to help blend this year's Bonnaroo White.
By now you've probably heard about Jack White's Guinness World Record setting Record Store Day feat of recording, pressing, and selling vinyl of his new single "Lazaretto" in a mere 3 hours and 55 minutes. For those who weren't lucky enough to snag a copy from White's Third Man Records in Nashville, you can now hear it streaming on White's official website. The song will be available on April 22 as an instant download for anyone who pre-ordered the album through Itunes. White will be appearing as one of the three headliners for Bonnaroo 2014. While the schedule has not been released yet, White will either anchor Friday or Saturday night, as Elton John has already been announced as the Sunday closer.
In other new music news, progressive metal act Mastodon released a new song, "High Road", today. "High Road" is the new single from their forthcoming album "Once More 'Round the Sun", which is scheduled to be released in June. You can stream the song now on Mastodon's official website or download the single from Itunes. Mastodon is one of four major metal acts scheduled to play Bonnaroo 2014, joining Animals as Leaders, Deafheaven, and Meshuggah.
For local Bonnaroo fans, Bean's Creek Winery, which sits right off the Bonnaroo exit from I-24 and produces Bonnaroo themed wine each year in advance of the festival, will hold a wine blending class on May 10 from 2-4 p.m. Bean's Creek winemaker Josh Brown will show attendees how to blend wines to create unique flavors. But this isn't just a wine blending class, but also a wine blending competition. Participants will be given instructions and guidelines then will be turned loose to create their own blends. These blends will be judged by Bean's Creek staff and the winning blend will be the one used to make the 2014 edition of Bonnaroo White. Tickets to the class and contest are $25 and are available at Bean's Creek Winery's website.
Bonnaroo 2014 will be held June 12-15 at Great Stage Park in Manchester, Tennessee. In addition to Jack White and Mastodon, performers include Kanye West, Arctic Monkeys, Avett Brothers, and Ice Cube.
