Bonnaroo 2014 news: Clue #3 released, Lineup date announced

Today, Jan. 14, is a big day for Bonnaroo news, with two big pieces of information dropping. The first was the third in the Tuesday and Thursday series of Bonnaroo lineup clues released on Instagram. The second was the unveiling of the full lineup announcement date.

The Bonnaroo Lineup Clue series is a chance for fans to solve puzzles to get a sneak peek into possible bands for the lineup. You can our reports on the first and second clues here. While there is some debate about possible bands for the first two clues, Clue #3 seems to be our first almost universal consensus. You can see it here.

The picture shows multiple copies of Winston Churchill holding up his famous "V" for victory symbol. While there have been a few guesses like Blur, due to the pictures being slightly out of focus, the overwhelming consensus is that the clue is for Scottish synthpop group Chvrches.

First you have the multiple pictures of Winston Churchill, or "Churches". Then the "V" symbol with the fingers tips to the replaced "U" in the name Chvrches. Finally, Churchills' fingers appear to be tinted blue, a likely reference to the blue "V" on Chvrches album cover. Put them together and they make an almost overwhelmingly compelling case for Chvrches.

The second bit of news today was the return of the BLAM, or Bonnaroo Lineup Announcement Megathon, on Feb. 19. The BLAM started last year as a YouTube show hosted by "Weird Al" Yankovic that featured performances and the gradual announcement of the lineup. So far no details about the host or format of the show have been announced, just a picture with the date and a promise of more information soon.
