The fifth edition of the Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival's Lineup Clue contest was released today, Jan. 15. In keeping with the theme for the first half of their weekly Tuesday/Thursday releases, this clue was a scavenger hunt. It ended up being posted just outside the Dallas Zoo and was quickly found and posted on the Bonnaroo Facebook page.
The clue reads as follows:
A quiet engine
Murmurs out back in the grass
Hypnotizing drone
It is still unknown whether the physical location of the scavenger hunt clues factors into their solving or not. If so, this clue's haiku seems to point in the direction of some sort of animal or creature. The "hypnotizing drone" could refer to a backyard insect or creature, leading some to speculate about Band of Bees or even hotly rumored former Beatles member Paul McCartney. Others have seized upon the fact that it's Penguin Days at the clue's location, The Dallas Zoo. The penguin has long been the mascot of the recently reunited and oft Bonnaroo rumored Fleetwood Mac.
Others have decided against the insect route and looked more toward other "engines." One band that seems to be leading the guessing pack right now is Tame Impala. The "quiet engine" portion of the clue fits the band because of the Chevrolet Impala. The murmurs "out back" could refer to the band's home of Australia. The "hypnotizing drone" could refer to the band's brand of psychedelic rock.
Other popular guesses include Railroad Earth, Ringo Starr, and Band of Horses.
