The Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival released the 11th in their 2013 Lineup Clue game series today, Feb. 5, ahead of an anticipated mid-February lineup announcements. In the month preceding the announcement, Bonnaroo has released two clues weekly in the form of haikus that point to an artist who will be performing at Bonnaroo 2013. As is always the case with the Tuesday edition of the Tuesday-Thursday clue release schedule, this one was a scavenger hunt, found by a Bonnaroo Facebook fan at the Johnson & Wales Student Dining Center in Charlotte, NC.
The clue reads as follows:
A school known for food
Is near a maker of beats
Hopes high for the kid.
The kicker for this clue is definitely the second line, "a maker of beats." This seems to narrow the focus down to either a rapper or a DJ act. Additionally, the third line, "Hopes high for the kid" seems to point to a younger person from one of those two genres. Others have speculated that the second and third lines merge to suggest the protege of a famous rapper or producer or even a rapper who has or is about to become a father.
That leaves the first line to decipher. Unfortunately, as with many Bonnaroo Clues, it's one that's easily read more than one way. Is it a culinary academy like Le Cordon Bleu? Maybe a school food program like Jamie Oliver's in Compton? Or it could be taken very literally and refer to fish, which swim in "schools" and are know for food.
Clue sleuths on the various social network sites have proffered many guesses, but none that has coalesced into any sort of unified consensus. Popular guesses include Kendrick Lamar, Kanye West, Kid Cudi, and Bassnectar.
If you'd like to try your hand at guessing Bonnaroo 2013 Lineup Clue #11, you can do so in one of three ways.
