With the Bonnaroo 2012 lineup announcement likely approximately a month away, typically dropping in early to mid-February, Bonnaroo staff have been building expectation among their devoted set of superfans with their annual set of lineup clues.
But Bonnaroo Cluemaster Gary Chardonnay isn't making things easy for would be sneak peekers. While clue solvers got off to a quick start by guessing Clue #1 as Mogwai, and just today the answers to Clue #2 and Clue #4, were solved as Battles and Fruit Bats by the clever clue sleuths on Twitter and the Inforoo fan boards, Clues #3, #5, and #6 are still up in the air.
Today, Chardonnay released the seventh in the clue series on Twitter. Here it is in full:
Offerings from the garden; "I think you're God."
While guesses immediately went to something to do with an apple, Chardonnay provided an additional clue by responding to a Twitter follower's that the clue has nothng to do with apples.
Some have taken "offerings from the garden" literally and have looked toward bands like Red Hot Chili Peppers and The Roots as possible answers.
Others feel the second part of the clue refers to Eden somehow, and have been following a trail considering Adam, Eve, Eden, and Snakes.
One of the more interesting theories is that the clue could be pointing to the Kanye/Jay Z collaboration Watch the Throne. Googling the quote brings up the writings of an author named J.Z. Knight and Jay-Z's nickname is "Hova", which he got due to it being short for "Jay-Hova". Watch the Throne would certainly be a huge get for Bonnaroo and a major counter for rival festival Coachella's Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg pairing.
