During the sixth season episode “The Finder”, of the Fox hit show Bones, the audience was introduced to Walter Shurman played by Geoff Stults and Leo Knox played by Michael Clarke Duncan. Bones and Booth had traveled to Florida to get the help of a former U.S. soldier who has the ability to unearth anything assisted by his unique group of colleagues. The episode aired as a back-door pilot to the new spin-off series of the same name The Finder.
In the Finder, Iraq war veteran Walter Sherman gained a reputation in his army days as being the go-to guy for tracking down insurgents and deserters and finding improvised explosive devices (IEDs). Unfortunately one IED found Walter before he could find it, resulting in severe brain damage with a lasting and unexpected effect. Walter transformed from someone skilled at the standard recovery of people and things to someone much more extraordinary.
Will this show be able to capture audiences like the long running Bones or will The Finder need to hire someone to find viewers? If the introduction episode of these characters is any indication, there is potential of a fun show with potential cross-over with its predecessor, while still being able to stand on its own.
The Finder premieres on Thursday January 12th on FOX.
