Brennan's life is in danger in an upcoming "Bones" season 8 episode, the 15th of the season, "The Shot in the Dark," and on Thursday, Jan. 31, FOX released promotional photos from that episode.
In this "Bones" episode, Brennan (Emily Deschanel), is shot while working in the lab late at night. She's rushed to the hospital in critical condition and while there, she has visions of her mother (Brooke Langton) that defy logic. Executive producer Stephen Nathan had previously teased this episode and Brennan's near-death experience as something that "really kind of causes her to reevaluate her life and see everything a little bit differently." As if Brennan in critical condition wasn't bad enough, evidence suggests that the shooter could be linked to the Jeffersonian and one of the photos teases an artifact from the Jeffersonian that could hold a clue about the shooter's identity. Ryan O'Neal and Danielle Panabaker return as Max Keenan and FBI Special Agent Olivia Sparling in this episode.
The "Shot in the Dark" photos, which you can check out in the slideshow at the top of this article, offer a look at Brennan working and Booth (David Boreanaz) stopping by with Christine to visit Brennan, only to find her after she has been shot. We also have a few sweet photos of Booth (and Max) at Brennan's hospital bedside. However, the most intriguing photos have to be those that tease her visions of her mother as Brennan fights to get back to her family.
