‘Bones’ 9x11 “The Spark in the Park” Recap

A look at the last episode:

Summary: A gymnast is murdered and her remains are hit by lighting in a park.

Cam finally comes to grips with Haley, her friend that had stole her identity. She is still very angry with what happened and wants to get answers. Arastoo tries to help her deal with it.

Brennan relates to one of the suspects as he reminds her of herself because he uses his work to deal with the stresses of life. Of course, this is something that Booth has a hard time to understand so this causes them to bump heads.

The show is going to be off the air for the rest of December for the holidays, not returning until January 10th.

Here’s a recap of the show.

A couple is taking picture of a dead body before right before it gets hit by lightening.

Cam is asking Booth to talk Haley. On the way to interrogation, they run into her and Cam slaps her. Booth gets a call about the scene.

At the scene, Brennan is already looking at the body. Brennan thinks that the victim is 17 years old. She discovers that there was metal in the victim that magnetized the lightening.

Arastoo/Cam/Hodgins are looking over the body at the lab. Cam finds a necklace from victim. It has a picture of her parents. They found out why she’s so short despite being 17. They think that she was being beaten regularly.

Booth/Sweets going over the victim’s body from the photos of the couple. They think it was done by someone who knew her because her face was covered.

Arastoo tells Cam to publish about the body being struck by lightening. He tells her that she should forgive the woman who stole her identity and Cam says she’s too angry.

Angela is working on a facial reconstruction. Hodgins comes to see her to look into data from her cell phone. She found her. Her name is Amanda Watters.

Booth goes to see Amanda’s father, Leon. He tells them that Amanda’s mother is dead from breast cancer a year earlier. He tells them that she was a gymnast. He says the last time he saw her was 3 days ago when they had breakfast.

Brennan tells Booth that Leon was probably closed off because he was upset about losing his daughter and wife in a year span.

Sweets/Booth are arguing with Brennan about Leon maybe being a suspect. Brennan thinks they should try and find another suspect.

At the gym, they talk with the head coach Dennis about Amanda. They ask him about competition with Amanda and other gymnast. He says Amanda got hurt by accident when Ellie, who is ranked under her, didn’t catch her.

Brennan goes to see Leon. He says that Amanda was the one who took care of him and he blames himself for not protecting her. She tells him that he shouldn’t commit suicide.

Arastoo shows Cam that there were signs of a struggle. He tells Cam about when he was prosecuted in Iran and how he let go of the anger he had when he was wrongly prosecuted. She says she won’t stop.

Booth/Brennan talk with Ellie. Ellie tells them after Dennis leaves that she doesn’t think that Amanda was coming back because she was skipping practice off doing drugs and drinking.

Sweets tells Booth that he was looking into Amanda’s social site to find out about her friends.

Sweets talks with Julian, her drug dealer, about Amanda. He mentions another friend Rachel who was close with her.

Booth talks with Rachel and her parents. She has bruises on her arms and her father admits to slapping her. Rachel says that she met Amanda through the online school. They made a pact to quit together but Amanda never got back to her.

Hodgins is trying to repair the phone card. They find that she was went into the same building that Leon works at the night she was murdered.

Booth/Brennan talk with Leon. They tell him that his daughter that his daughter had his access code and that he was at his building. Leon admits that Amanda brought him dinner before practice. Brennan thinks that maybe he was annoyed with her being there during his work. Leon says maybe but he wouldn’t have killed her. He tells them where she got his dinner.

Booth/Brennan argue about her taking Leon’s side.

Cam goes to see Haley to try and get answers, but she learns that Haley was just jealous of her.

Arastoo/Brennan are looking over the bones and Brennan thinks she knows how Amanda died.

Arastoo/Brennan go to see Angela about a possibility to killing Amanda. She thinks that she died against a balance beam.

Brennan/Booth are at the gym looking at the gym. Brennan finds traces of her vomit on the beam before finding a piece of her tongue. Booth arrests Dennis.

Dennis says that the girls know his code and that he wasn’t there. He says he’s never lost his temper.

Arastoo/Brennan look over the bones and see that the person who strangled Amanda is someone who had a strong right arm vs. left arm.

Booth/Brennan are talking with Rachel and her parents. Brennan finds traces of vomit on Rachel’s finger.

Cam goes to see Arastoo. She tells him that she’s not going through with the aggravated theft charges.

Booth/Brennan talk at home. She tells him that she’s worried that Leon’s going to commit suicide. He tells her to go and check on him.

Booth goes to see Leon. He used math to express his love for Amanda.
