In June 2013, 33 animals were removed from a hoarder's house in Oak Grove, MO, 31 of which were cats. Two of the animals saved from deplorable conditions were Jonesy and Salty, two eight year old retriever/hound mixes. Jonesy is blind and Salty is his eyes.
The bonded pair went to the Great Plain's SPCA, where they have been for the last six months.
"These two dogs are the best of friends," Rachel Hodgson, the communications manager for the Great Plains SPCA told KCTV News. "They are sweet, loving dogs and because they depend so much on one another, we'd really like to find them a home together."
Recently, Jonesy and Salty went to foster care but are still looking for a forever home where their needs can be met. Salty has a skin condition that will probably need antibiotics, medicated baths and special food. He may also have chronic ear infections.
The dogs will either be adopted out together or not at all. One of the shelter workers was kind enough to pay the adoption fee, so now they wait for a loving home.
If you are interested in adopting Jonesy and Salty, please visit the Great Plain's SPCA or call 913-742-7326.
