Bon Jovi concert coming to S.A. and U.S. theaters

Calling all Bon Jovi fans of San Antonio and the United States. You're wanted dead or alive (well, presumably alive) in movie theaters on Nov. 8.

For one Monday night only, "Bon Jovi -- The Circle Tour" will be screened in more than 550 cinemas nationwide, including four theaters in the Alamo City. Footage from the band's multiple-night stanza over Memorial Day weekend at their hometown New Meadowlands Stadium in New Jersey that drew more than 200,000 fans will be featured. The 7:30 p.m. screening will kick off with a preview of Bon Jovi's latest music video What Do You Got, which was released as a single on Sept. 21 and will appear on the Nov. 9 release of Bon Jovi -- Greatest Hits Collection.

Tickets are on sale at participating box offices and at FathomEvents.com. The website also has a complete list of theaters, which are subject to change. The four participating theaters in San Antonio are:

  • McCreeless Mall (4221 S. New Braunfels Ave.)
  • Cielo Vista 18 (2828 Cinema Rdg)

Bon Jovi has been one of the biggest selling rock bands since their self-titled 1984 debut album, right up through 2009's The Circle, their 11th studio album. Their 1986 record Slippery When Wet and 1988's New Jersey spawned several hits that still resonate in stadiums and karaoke bars today such as You Give Love a Bad Name, Livin' On a Prayer and Bad Medicine. During their 20-year anniversary in 2004, the band sold its 100 millionth record and celebrated with a box set of previously unreleased material, 100,000,000 Bon Jovi Fans Can't Be Wrong. They have sold more than 120 million records to date.

According to a press release, The Circle tour, which bypassed San Antonio and plays its final American show of the year Friday in Gulf Shores, Ala., closed out the summer as the No. 1 North American tour, according to Pollstar and Billboard.

Bon Jovi's studio music may have softened since 2005's Have a Nice Day album considering they have performed on CMT (Country Music Television) with country artist Sugarland and enlisted LeAnn Rimes to do a song on their 2007 album Lost Highway. But the other side of that view can point out that Bon Jovi is also noted for pure Rock N' Roll energy in concert, as well as the fact some of their songs have had a country- and cowboy-themed tone dating back to 1986 smash hit Wanted Dead or Alive.

Fans can judge for themselves at the screening. Meanwhile, San Antonians can only hope that whenever Bon Jovi tours the U.S. again, they don't limit their Texas stops to Dallas and Houston.

they put on a great show... I'm sure, even in the movie theaters, it'll be a fun way to spend a couple of hours!
