A Suffolk County police spokeswoman said officers responded to the Edmund W. Miles Middle School at 9:10 a.m. after receiving a report of a possible threat.
“This morning the district was alerted to a threatening note placed in a bathroom,” said Dr. John Williams, the Superintendent of the Amityville Union Free School District. “Suffolk County Police were immediately notified and students and staff were evacuated from the building.”
Cops said they searched the building at 501 Broadway Ave. after the note was found in a boy’s bathroom prompted the evacuation. “No device was found,” the police spokeswoman said. School officials said the threat was deemed “not credible.”
The students and staff were permitted to return to the building by Thursday afternoon and resumed normal schedules, Williams said.
Police said they are continuing to investigate.
