Bomb threat closes Cobb County Courthouse for hours

After a report of a bomb threat earlier this morning, the Cobb County Courthouse closed for several hours in order for fire crews to investigate the scene.

According to Channel 2 Action News, a call was made by an unidentified individual who informed officials that a buried bomb was within close proximity of the exterior of one of the courthouses. The caller didn't specify the exact location of the bomb. As a result, four courthouses were cleared out for investigation. No bombs were found.

Meanwhile, a similar call was made in Cherokee County. No bombs were found at the Canton Courthouse after K-9 units searched the area. According to the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office, bomb threats have been typically lately when foreclosure dealing are being held. An evacuation, however, was not mandatory. Instead, there was limited access while the investigate took place.

The Cobb County courthouse re-opened shortly after 11:40 a.m.
