Port Orange Police responded to a holdup at a local bank Monday afternoon, and then also called in the Volusia County Bomb Squad. The holdup happened at the SunTrust Bank on South Nova Road at Village Trail. A tweet from @volusiafire Monday afternoon said an object that might have been an explosive was found in the bank, apparently during the holdup investigation. Port Orange Police and Volusia County Sheriff’s Deputies secured the crime scene at the bank while the Sheriff’s Office Bomb Squad checked the suspicious object. By late Monday afternoon, the area appeared to have been cleared, as emergency units began to leave the area. There were also unconfirmed reports Monday that area police agencies were looking for a suspect and vehicle involved in the holdup.
