The Bollywood Oscars will be coming to Tampa Florida a little earlier than expected. The official name of the event is the International Indian Film Academy's Weekend & Award and they want a bigger venue and an earlier time slot rather than the June dates they had first agreed on. Now this is not a bad thing it just means moving some things around. They are now looking at dates in the March and April months. Seems when they originally were wanting the dates in June they forgot to take in one possible threat. Summer Rains and possible disturbances like tropical storms or hurricanes.
Now as a native Tampanian born and raised I can attest to the fact that it is very true that June can be one of our rainiest months. We do have many venues that could be used to accommodate the people attending this years awards.
Here is where the real problem comes in. It is not the fact of the weather but it seems the event has grown in possible attendees. That's right estimates have jumped from a possible 35,000 to 50 or 60,000 people wanting to attend the awards ceremony. This is a feather in the cap for Tampa in bringing the awards show here.
Tampa has been the site for many Superbowls and other sporting events, as well as the Republican National Convention, and has usually pulled the events off with little or no problems. So this little challenge is nothing to worry about. The city will be able to hold the event and accommodate any and all who want to attend. The weather in March and April will even possibly allow the event to be held at Raymond James Stadium home of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
