Bok Tower Gardens is holding its fifth annual Boktoberfest this Saturday, October 19, 2013. The event features a plant sale, a wide variety of entertainment and free admission to the gardens.
For kids and families, there will be a petting zoo, pumpkin painting, airbrush tattoos, tree climbing and face painting. Visit the Boktoberfest website for a complete schedule of events.
When all of the activity makes you hungry, partake in some of the German food and craft beers available on site. Be sure and leave time in your schedule to explore the nearly 50 acres of gardens designed by famed landscape architect Frederick Law Olmsted Jr. Strolling the gardens and enjoying the spectacular views can easily take half the day.
Situated at 298 feet above sea level, the gardens are one of the highest points in peninsular Florida. They have been attracting visitors since 1929 and their dominant feature is the 205 foot tall Singing Tower carillon. Live concerts of the 60-bell carillon will be held at 1 and 3 p.m.
