Film buffs dream of film festivals. Days and nights of sitting in darkened theaters watching movies and discussing movies and getting to wear those passes on a lanyard that get you into everything during the festival. Boise can boast the Idaho International Film Festival www.idahofilmfestival.com/. While not our only film festival, it's the biggest in scope. This year marks its seventh in Boise and what a treat it is. The festival will run from September 24 - 27th this year. The movies will be presented at several venues including The Flicks, The Egyptian, and Edwards 9. There will be directors, local filmmakers, and free workshops. Don't forget the parties. If you don't have this festival on your calendar, you are missing out. You will have the opportunity to see some amazing films. Some that you will only see on the film festival circuit like "Raiders: The Adaptation" www.idahofilmfestival.com/ which screened a couple of years ago at IIF, and which for copyright reasons will never be released on dvd. That film is a little miracle, because it had been tucked away for fifteen years when a VHS tape fell into the possession of Harry Knowles, who played it at his film festival and well, history was made.
The man who puts all these films together is Bruce Fletcher, Festival Director. He creates an amazing program each year and we are the lucky recipients. He also seems to be everywhere at once during the festival somehow. Keep up with what will be on the program this year by joining Idaho International Film Festival on My Space www.myspace.com/idahofilmfestival and Facebook www.facebook.com/pages/Idaho-International-Film-Festival/114335926267.
