It's up. The list of films to be screened at this year's Idaho International Film Festival is up on their website www.idahofilmfestival.com/workshops.htm. But wait, there's more. The schedule is up also, and the info on the FREE, yes FREE workshops. The tickets are available for purchase online. Can you stand it? Movie marathon time is less than a month away.
It is officially planning time. Much as you'd plan a vacation, planning your festival experience is of utmost importance if you are to get the most out of your alloted festival time and money. This is especially true for those of us with day jobs and no paid leave time off. The tried and true method for this reporter is to go through the brief descriptions of each film and mark the ones you just know immediately that you have to see. Much like love at first sight, sometimes you don't need much to know that a film is going to rock your world. Then the next step is to check out the FREE festival workshops. From past experience, these are highly recommended. The next step is to view trailers of all the films. Don't try to do this all in one sitting. View a couple a day and mark the stand out if there is one, or the double win if you like both. It's okay to give extra points for genres you like and to local filmmakers. At this point with any luck, you will have narrowed the list down a bit. It is also recommended to see a movie in a genre that you normally wouldn't go for. A film festival is all about broadening your horizons and seeing things you don't get to see everyday. The next step is to view the trailers again and make some hard decisions. Go online and look for reviews. If you plan to meet friends at the festival, now is the time to check out their must see lists and see if there's any you have in common. Then you can figure out the all important meet up/break times and venues. How many films can you see in one day?
