Bohemia Interactive confirms attack on DayZ servers

Bohemia Interactive confirmed an attack on DayZ servers. The supposed hacker, known as DevDomo, posted unsubstantiated screenshots on a hacking forum claiming they were of the games source code. Those posts were quickly removed but then mirrored on Reddit. A spokesperson for Bohemia Interactive confirmed to Rely on Horror:

"We have recently detected an attack on some of our servers, the precise nature and scope of this attack is currently being extensively investigated. There were no user data on any of the servers. Current development goals and schedules for our games will not be affected by this attack. More information will follow as our investigation continues."

What does this mean for the future of DayZ? It could potentially open the door to other exploits. When this happens early in a games lifecycle, legitimate players get turned-off by the hacks of others and the servers eventually die. Hopefully, the developers are doing everything possible to resolve this issue.

DayZ started out as a hugely popular ArmA 2 mod. It’s currently in early-access development and available on Steam.
