AUSTIN – Wednesday June 26, 2013 a United Airlines' Boeing 787 Dreamliner made an appearance at Austin-Bergstrom International Airport.

This was a private reception hosted by United Airlines for Austin area business travelers who travel to Asia. The intent of the visit is to raise interest in long haul service from the United States to Asia and offering more in flight amenities.

The Boeing 787 Dreamliner has been in service for almost 2 years and is said to offer the lowest fuel burn per seat mile of any other aircraft in its size category. The Dreamliner can do that without sacrificing comforts such as larger windows, bigger overhead bins and a lower cabin altitude.

United Airlines recently launched nonstop service on the 787 from Denver to Tokyo. Advanced technology aircraft like the 787 are the key to United’s future which will allow them to fly fuel efficient, aesthetically pleasing aircraft. The airline is the third largest at ABIA and will become one of seven airports with year round service to all eight of United’s main U.S. hubs. Nonstop service will begin in September to Cleveland.
