A Boeing 777 landing at Birmingham has made headline news over the last few days because it ditched the landing in the last few seconds as the plane came down sideways in the wind. Today the passengers are talking about the terrifying landing attempts. The passengers not only felt the twisting and turning of the landing attempt, but they watched it from the video screens on the back of their seats, according to Gizmodo.com on Dec. 7.
Check out the extended video above on the Boeing 777 attempting to land, along with other planes feeling the winds that aborted landings. According to the Birmingham Mail, one passenger became physically sick as the plane bobbed from side to side long before it was over the runway. The plane was actually hovering over the runway in the wind with the landing gear almost on the ground.
The Emirates Boeing 777 was attempting this landing in the U.K.’s Birmingham airport were the gusts of winds caused not one, but two landing attempts for this plane full of passengers to abort landing. The passengers were on their first leg of their trip which would eventually get them to Dubai.
The landing was finally a success at the Gatwick Airport on their third try. The insane crosswind was the culprit that caused the landing of the plane to be an impossibility during the first two attempts. Passengers said the three landings approaches were terrifying and the landing attempts that were aborted were rough harrowing rides.
Reports of planes dealing with crosswinds are fairly routine, but not like this one. It looked terrifying and it was pretty much a scary ride for the passengers inside. Both times the plane was coming down at a deadly angle.
