Update: According to "The Hill", John Boehner has managed to hang on to his Speaker of the House seat. (so much for Ron Mayer's information to the contrary below)
It comes as no real surprise, but it is reported that House Speaker John Boehner will not be reelected Speaker tomorrow or will resign his position.
Today, Jan. 2, 2013, Ron Mayer, a writer for CNSNews.com says that he has confirmed information from a group of Congressmen that John Boehner is out, no matter what. However, he gives no names of those Congressmen!
Apparently, only a small number of votes in the house will be needed to keep Boehner from retaining his seat as Speaker of the House. Another option that Mayer indicates is that Boehner may resign his seat leaving it open for a vote for a new Speaker of the House. Just who that may be is not really clear at this time.
Since the fiscal cliff vote, Boehner has been on the hot seat. Even the Governor of N.J. is up in arms about Boehner’s failure in the House to bring a vote on a 60.4 billion dollar aid bill for the victims of hurricane Sandy.
The Senate approved a $60.4 billion measure Friday to help with recovery from the storm that devastated parts of New York, New Jersey and nearby states. It had been expected that the House would vote on the bill before Congress’ term ends, but that apparently is not going to happen.
