Republican Speaker of the House, John Boehner, is clearly the biggest loser in the race to prevent the country to go over the fiscal cliff.
He failed to rally his fellow Republicans to support his own tax bill. He named this bill, Plan B, which called for modest tax hikes on the rich.
That vote proved there wasn't any support for his bill and instead of trying to hammer out a deal, the Republican House of Representative leaders took an early Christmas vacation.
The Speaker can no longer be taken seriously by his party or by anyone else in Congress. By continually neglecting to compromise with the party across the aisle, the Republicans lost any credibility that they might have had.
Boehner and his party neglected the job they were elected to do. As the country got closer to going over the fiscal cliff, they caused more angst and anxiety pushing this economy and the global economy to the brink.
Boehner and all members of Congress fail to realize that our economic ills will not be cured if we have no growth. We need jobs, good paying jobs. Extending tax cuts and not reeling in federal spending plus allowing jobs to go overseas will never get this country out of this financial mess. As long as Congress fails to act on this issue we will always be confronted with fiscal cliffs.
