You probably have seen or at least heard of The Biggest Loser by now. It is the largest body transformation contest/reality show in the country. It is easy sit there and say, "Well, I could get off my fat butt if I had a chance to win $250,000 too!"

Well, guess what? There are MANY body transformation contests out there for people just like you! Some of them don't even require that you are that out of shape or overweight! Many of them offer prizes such as cruises, free product, and even $25,000!

Check out all the Before and After pictures of real people making amazing changes! Wouldn't it be great to lose the weight anyway, but to top it off, have a chance to win prizes or money?!

There are a few steps to take, when beginning a weight-loss challenge or contest

1. Find contests online or in your community. Here are a few starting points:

2. Choose a contest that fits your goals. A good way to do this is to ask:

  • Do the winners of previous contests look similar to where you are now?

  • Does the length of time given, give you enough time to reach your goal? (a 12-week contest may not be a good one for 100 lb weight loss)

3. Some other things to keep in mind when choosing your contest are:

  • Does the website/store or product give you tools to succeed?
  • Is there diet and/or exercise support?

  • Is there a hotline and/or website for questions and help

  • Does the contest come with a plan or do you need to make your own?

4. Get the dates to the contest and read all the rules!

  • take the required pictures and post them (some may need newspapers for date verification)

  • buy the companies products if necessary

  • some of the contests require weekly blogging or journals

  • log your workouts or keep a food journal

  • keep all receipts

 5. Start your journey!

  • make sure you continually follow the rules

  • post required progress photos

  • enroll in classes or hire a trainer to keep you on track

  • keep a food journal or follow a nutrition plan

  • keep on truckin'

Keep in mind, dozens and maybe hundreds of people will enter some of these contests. Only a percentage will continue or finish. The odds are on your side to finish, even if you aren't close to your personal goal. Body transformation contests are a great way to get motivated at the beginning of a New Year and to jumpstart a healthy lifestyle!
