Let's face it, regardless of what age you are right now or even what stage you are in life, aging is inevitable as long as you have breath in your body. However, coming of age does not need to be a frightening expectation. If you are currently living a healthy lifestyle, you already know this to be true. But there are so many people, both young and old, who view aging as a death sentence. They fear it's something to dread. They expect to no longer be physically able to do much of anything and therefore, give in to whatever society "labels" aging to entail. The only thing these "aging" people know is aches and pain, doom and gloom. Well, if you are one of them, you are living the biggest lie, and if you are the ones listening to them, you are allowing their belief system to rob you of any healthy expectancy living your life can provide.
First you need to know that, age does not equal death. If you have people in your life that live their lives to succumb to the thoughts and expectations of a slow death, get away from them, they are poison to you. Here is something you need to know about aging. If you do not take care of yourself, or stay active, the aging process will catch up to you, oftentimes before you reach "old age". Aches and pains creep in, not to mention the telling signs through visual appearance. However, muscle has the ability to change all of that.
Bodybuilding is the fountain of youth for those who are active and train hard to stay in shape. When you train with weights, you must be alert and focused in order to achieve the results needed to create that muscular structure. Well, everyone knows that as you age, your reflexes are known to suffer, mental alertness suffers, bones weaken and all of these together create many of the health problems associated with aging. But when you are weight training and building muscles, you are challenging your body to defy the odds and reverse the common scenario associated with aging. To lift weights, you must be focused and your focus will keep you alert and as your body adapts to the demands placed upon it, your reflexes improve.
Bodybuilding is a mental exercise as well as physical; therefore, your thought process strengthens just as your body does. You will find that as the body is sharp, so is the mind. It has to be in order to learn and develop different techniques used in training. Also, when building muscles, your bones are strengthened and your skin's elasticity tightens which causes your physique to look 10 times younger than if you never lifted weights at all.
